Blah Blah Blog

Maureen Dowd discusses how blogs are being used by presidential candidates, to differing degrees, to boost support for their campaigns. See, Mr. Wilder, I told you that you could handle this “technology thing.” If the presidential candidates are doing it, it must be something that even stodgy old you can do. (Of course, using that logic also means that you can do cocaine, get DUIs, and receive oral sex in your office—and those are just the presidents.)

(A New York Times subscription to their website, available for free, is required to read the article. I think you might be able to log in using Metafi/Metafi, courtesy of our friends at Metafilter. I will have you know that, for once, I found something Metafilter-worthy before it was listed there.)

This excerpt is the most amusing part: “Gary Hart, who began his blog in March, doesn’t bother to read other digital diarists. ‘If you’re James Joyce,’ he said slyly, ‘you don’t read other authors.’”
